Tdot Toronto Photo Contest Welcomes Portrait and Street Shots in the Community Category

Tdot Toronto Photo Contest Welcomes Portrait and Street Shots in the Community Category

Photos by Jessie Wald aka @jaydoublyou

$100 Prize for Winner of the Community Category? Yep! Get on it!

Are you interested in winning one of 3 $100 prizes for professional printing from Prolab Canada? Of course! We’d recommend you submit your entries in the next week – you have until July 1st. We have drafted this because the community category is the most underrepresented. We already have, for point of comparison, many, many landscape shots that fit City/Town and quite a few entries in the GTA/FFA.

Category Details: Community = Portrait, Environmental Portrait and Street

Do you have portrait or street shots? Even if you don’t normally post these images on social media consider posting some and use hashtag @tdot_cc20. We welcome portrait photos and street shots taken in the Greater Toronto area. Further we’d encourage environmental portraiture which includes images of people in their work or home environments. These photos tend not to be headshots but action shots with a generous amount of background offering context that explains the who, what, where.

Archive vs Now (Old Photos vs. Shooting with Social Distancing)

During the pandemic we encourage photographers to post from their archives or be sure to employ careful social distancing during current sessions. These wonderful shots from photographer Jessie Wald (aka @jaydoublyou) are an example of photos from the photographer’s archive. Posted now they would qualify for the community category.

If you are shooting now we recommend you take photos of people as street or candid photos or employ generous distancing in the manner of the porch photography movement. Photos taken now without evidence of social distancing among models will not qualify.

Contest Rules and COVID-19 Disclaimer

As we described above, we require entrants to follow health authority guidelines and to use common sense when shooting and posting photos during the crisis.

The simple rules are to post on Instagram from May 15 – July 1, use hashtag @tdot_cc20 and make sure you follow @tdot_shots and @prolabcanada.

You can use the hashtag on any photos posted during the contest period but not from before. A photo posted in April 2020 won’t qualify. Read the full rules at our website tdotshots.com.

Good luck!

Thanks and good luck! We look forward to seeing your shots!
