Doors Open is a Special Opportunity to See Toronto in a New Light
Doors Open Toronto, May 28 and 29, is a springtime ritual that many people love. Most of the venues are free, accessible and worth waiting in line to see. Favourites around the city include historic Osgoode Hall, mysterious Lower Bay station and modern Aga Khan Museum.
Doors Open is a terrific annual event when city enthusiasts can explore approximately dozens of buildings of architectural, historic, cultural, and social significance. Doors Open returns this year after two years of virtual events. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about Toronto.
According to the City of Toronto, you can “rediscover the city you thought you knew through Doors Open Toronto, celebrating 100+ sites of architectural, cultural and social significance. Go deeper with engaging tours, insightful talks, an online film series and other virtual experiences. Doors Open activities take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.”
We think this is one of the best times of year, as temperatures are warm but not hot and muggy, spring is in bloom, and visitors and Torontonians alike are actively exploring the city. We invite you to join us for our special event on Doors Open weekend.
Join Tdot Shots U of T Walking Tour
Join us at the U of T aka University of Toronto on Sunday May 29, for a special photo walk / walking tour, hosted by Mike Simpson, Tdot Shots founder and a passionate architecture and history enthusiast. The walk takes place two hours before sunset, perfect for capturing the U of T’s St. George campus in the best light!
We have our own tour of the iconic buildings and landmarks planned during the evening. You should come out! It will be an awesome experience. Please buy a ticket.

- Victoria College
- St. Michael’s college
- Philosopher’s Walk
- Trinity College
- Soldiers’ Tower
- Robarts Library
- Convocation Hall
- and many others!
In our two hour stroll among the historic grounds of the campus, we see dozens of historically significant buildings. Mike introduces key points about many of them, and our group of amateur photographers offer tips and encouragement to each other.
All are welcome, bring a camera and your curiosity
You don’t have to be a photographer or own a DSLR to shoot with us. All are welcome! Bring a smartphone and your curiosity and enthusiasm!

The U of T Doors Open Venues
The University of Toronto has a few buildings and their interior spaces available for Doors Open. One of the buildings we recommend would be the Daniels Building at Spadina and College (1 Spadina Crescent). Another would be the Thomas Fisher Rare Book Library, located adjacent the famous Robarts Library at St. George St and Harbord St.
In our opinion, these are two of the most interesting locations that are open to the public and interesting to photographers and architecture enthusiasts. Note the access hours on Saturday and Sunday are 10 am to 5 pm. The last admission is at 4:30 pm. If you visit these buildings during the day you have plenty of time to do so before our walk.
