Chasing Sunrise, Sunsets, Drone Aerials and Street with GTA Toronto Photographer Kurt Wang
One of our favourite photographers is Toronto-area local Kurt Wang, known for spectacular images from around the city and neighbouring towns, including downtown Toronto and locales like Mississauga and Hamilton.
In this post we will introduce you to Kurt, and share some images from Kurt’s social media. We also urge you to check out Kurt’s YouTube.
Meeting Kurt Wang
We first met Kurt in 2018 when we launched our Tdot Shots Photo Walks first season and Kurt and other photographers met us in places like downtown TO and High Park. Kurt was gracious to help assist with judging our photo contest (for actually more than a few of the past 6 years!).
If we had to introduce Kurt to you we’d say go ahead and read our original 2018 interview with Kurt, and try to attend one of his workshops or meetups. Kurt is likely to offer training and a photo walk linked to passions like shooting sunrise alignments of the CN tower or chasing the eclipse when it comes to town (as seen recently across North America).
Here are two of Kurt’s favourites – alignment and eclipse.
Kurt’s Style and Galleries
Style of Photography
Kurt is known for the shots of the sun and moon and seeking alignments, but we also appreciate Kurt’s enthusiasm for new technologies and approaches, including the use of drones for aerial shots and even the use of the Insta360 for interesting new perspectives in photo and video.
Of note is that Kurt is a great street photographer. We have featured a number of Kurt’s shots from downtown Toronto streets, from Yonge and Dundas Square to Old Town Toronto. Kurt has commitment to get out and shoot in all kinds of weather and conditions. This permits Kurt to capture unique and spectacular images.
Street Photography
In these shots, the subjects are the strong visuals of Yonge and Dundas intersection and cyclist observes streetcar at Toronto downtown near west lakeshore. Both capture the vitality, intensity and movement of the city, via billboards, pedestrians and transit, using strong colour or techniques such as long exposure.
Here are some more mini galleries with Kurt’s images. Be sure to follow the artist on Instagram: @kurt.wang
Aerials and drone
High Park in winter and fall, from Grenadier Pond and closer to lakeshore. A dedication to craft allows Kurt to get some great variety of images at iconic locations in the city and beyond.
360 Camera Gallery
Some fresh perspectives and nature shots combined together with use of the Insta 360 for a very special view of nature, whether captured in spring, fall or any season.
